No Tangle Headphones

so heres the thing. you've got these headphones in your purse. they are firggin tangled around every single thing in there like like a web of frustration and DOOM!!! you think you're just gonna grab that pen out of there real quick? no you are not. not with out hauling out the notepad, wallet, and keys out with it. oh the keys. "god damn it" inducing, purse dumping, car kicking amounts of irritation overwhelm you when you are trying to extricate these necessities from the maw of your messenger bag on a good day. incorporate the headphone web of doom and you might as well just call today a loss. god forbid you've got a hairbrush in there. lets not even talk about that monstrous situation.
Well ive got a solution for you. if you as an internet savvy crafty person (which i can only assume you are if you are reading this blog) google "no tangle headphones" you'll see a bunch of tutorials and photos of these pretty macrame headphones. the macrame ones are grand and i know how to make a friendship bracelet (same technique) but im impatient and i wanted it done right now!!! those weren't quite fitting the bill for me cause the gal that made them said they took her a whole day to make!
then i saw this on pinterest (see my pinterest "crafts" boards here).  Fuse beads are the answer to your prayers. you know the ones. you put on a little peg board and ironed as a kid to make magnets of awesomeness. i had no idea how many awesome things you could make with these little bad boys of the crafty world. i mean seriously google it. youll be amazed. your life could be changed. see here. yes. that IS a mosaic of Mr. T. you are welcome.
i sliced them with a box cutter and used a shish kabob skewer to slide them on as per Andy Koontzs genius suggestion. then he was like "pren why are you doing those one at a time. load up the skewer in the pattern you want and slide them on in one big clump" TOTALLY WORKED! booya! beaded headphones in like 20 minutes!! woo!

my only complaint, and its a minor one compared to the web of doom, is that you cant roll them up any more. :0/ you can in a fairly large loop but no more of that tiny looping... that they never stayed in anyhow, so who cares! they fit in my purse. they dont tangle up. they do not try to mate with my other purse objects any more. Much to the relief of my hair brush which was filing sexual harassment claims through the notepad almost daily, clearly the note pad is head of HR when it comes to the business of the purse. duh.)

go forth crafters!! go forth and bead things!

My Beltane Bush

this gorgeous thing is sitting on my desk at work and lovingly referred to as my Beltane Bush. let me tell you a little tale about why im so attached to this plant. i brought it back from the brink of DEATH i tell you. i Lazarused its ass!!! i literally dug it out of a trash can and breathed life into this lush little beauty (which we all know is steadfastly against the norm for me and my brown thumb. i kill ALL the plants :0/) So anyhow this guy was part gift part trash diggery and i had them in two separate pots and they started to get all...droopy. they were sad. and squished and too big for their britches but every time ive ever transplanted anything it dies. like, immediately.
anyhow, last year, one of my friends of the paggany persuasion send me a text that said "happy beltane!!" i said happy beltane back and asked what i should do in celebration. she said "celebrate fertility and the spring and do something out in nature". i thought "well ok ill move my two plants in together. bought a pot and transplanted these babies in the parking lot of my job. i tried to keep the lily alive with ever fiber of my plant loving little being but it slowly died...or so i thought.

this spring it started to poke up new shoots and is even MORE impressive then the first year!!! its even got its first flower!  not only did they live they thrived. so im gonna say lived happily ever after :0) i inquired further into this particular holiday and my wife informed me that traditional celebrations of this holiday would have involved "humping like bunnies". makes sense. we got a good giggle out of one of her wicca books that stated "on this LUSTY holiday" ya know cause we have the humor of two 13 year old boys.
it is beltane once again and i believe them too big for the pot they are in currently so guess what ill be doing today?...yeah prolly some of that...and repotting my beltane bush.

happy spring every one! celebrate the may in whatever way your little heart desires. feel free to share with me in the comments how YOU personally celebrate the spring. be it a religious celebration or you just being happy that the sun is out and the rain is clean and the dirt is soft enough for planting.
